Ciara is a Senior Speech and Language Therapist with over 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings including schools, clinics, clients homes and private practice.

 

She has specialist knowledge in the area of hearing loss having worked in the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California in the Auditory Oral School for over 10 years.

 

While she does not hold an Auditory Verbal Therapy, certification AVT, she has a wealth of experience in this area since the school she worked in practiced the principles of AVT. She is currently taking the Foundation Course in AVT through Hear and Say, Australia accredited by AG Bell Academy and will soon begin her mentoring programme.

 

While living in San Francisco she was  a member of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Cochlear Implant Team.

She is a registered member of the following organizations: Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT), the Irish Speech and Language Therapists in Private Practice (ISTI) the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and CORU. In addition she is the secretary of the Irish Special Interest Group, SIG for speech and language therapists interested in hearing loss and holds a California speech and language therapy license.
