Ciara is a Senior Speech and Language Therapist with over 30 years of experience working in a variety of settings including schools, clinics, clients homes and private practice.

Ciara received her Bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in 1994 and her Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders from San Francisco State in 2002. She received her Listening and Spoken Language/Auditory Verbal Therapy Certification in Oct 2025.

 

She worked in the HSE for a number of years before moving to San Francisco.

While she has worked with a range of ages and communication difficulties the majority of her work has been in early intervention.  

​

She has specialist knowledge in the area of hearing loss having recently trained as a Listening and Spoken Language Therapist. Prior to moving back to Ireland she worked in the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California in the Auditory Oral School. She also provided consultation services to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Cochlear Implant Team and had her own private practice. 

 

She is a registered member of the following organizations: Irish Association of Speech and language Therapists (IASLT), the Irish Speech and Language Therapists in Private Practice (ISTI) CORU, the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA)  AG Bell Academy. In addition she is a member of the special interest group in hearing loss.
